1. CARNIVAL OF CULTURES IN BERLIN – Let’s have a party, the world is a village!

Move it, baby! If you want to feel the vibes of Berlin you absolutely have to experience the Carnival of Cultures. Every year at Pentecost, the city celebrates its ethnic diversity and sets a signal against xenophobia that could not be happier, more peaceful and more atmospheric. One million visitors from all over the world will be coming to this XXL street festival that will take place between 7 and 10 June involving culinary, cultural and commercial highlights, food trucks, show stages and the participation of more than 300 shops. The highlight: the street parade on Pentecost Sunday with over 4,000 participants. Free admission.

2. WHITSUNDAY IN LONDON – at arm’s length from the Royals

At Whitsunday, London pays homage to the city’s most popular daughter: Queen Elizabeth II of England. On the official birthday of the Queen, the most peaceful and beautiful military parade in the world takes place: Trooping the Colour . Between Buckingham Palace, The Mall and Horse Guards Parade Square, 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 marching musicians will defile –  and the members of the Royal Family will be almost within touching distance.

At the same time, the city lures its visitors with an insight into the most beautiful private gardens in London that remain closed to the public on 363 days a year. Polo fans will enjoy themselves at Polo in the Park from 7 to 9 June, the only polo event taking place in the heart of the capital. Three polo matches per day, restaurants, street food and champagne lounges have made the event one of the most popular events on the UK’s social calendar.

Swimmers and stand-up paddlers complete their laps on Schlachtensee Lake, where daredevils climb the trees for the perfect cannonball dive. Sailors, water sports enthusiasts and beach lovers will spend perfect days at the picturesque Große Wannsee.

4. LONDON’S SEASON BRINGS OUT THE BEST IN SPORTS

What would London be without its “season”, when social life shifts its focus from the countryside to the capital. One of the top highlights is Ascot from 18 to 22 June where one can watch the Royal Family in magnificent carriages even from close up. The famous Ladies Day is all about hats – some of them more elegant, some less so. For those who have never attended a rowing race, the most famous rowing race in the world, the Henley Royal Regatta from 3 to 7 July, is definitely worth a trip. The ladies there wear elegant dresses or skirts with a hemline below the knees, the gentlemen wear club blazers, all sipping on Pimm’s Number One while watching the races. Over 200 in total.

Wimbledon is the most famous tennis tournament in the world and is also known for the strawberries served there. This year’s tournament will take place from 1 to 14 July. The city is also proudly waiting for PRIDE, a month-long event from 8 June to 6 July that will celebrate its 50 year anniversary this year. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to come to London to wave rainbow flags for the rights of the LGBT community. The program is very diverse, including dance and theatre performances, film screenings, workshops and lots of parties. Takes place in Soho.

Since 2007, the Berlin Fashion Week has always taken place at the same time as the Parisian Haute Couture. Only the fashion gods might know why. But even though the most important critics are more likely to be on the banks of the river Seine from 2 to 6 July, Berlin always attracts its own fashion crowd with cool parties, red carpets and lots of stars.

Berlin may not stand for elegance, but rather for sustainability, individuality and a cool, urban look. Kreuzberg, Mitte and City West are the districts where you’ll find many shops selling the authentic style of Berlin in close proximity to the Ming Hotels: Shops und Boutiquen. And what’s the best thing to do after a successful shopping quest?

6. LONDON CALLING – BBC PROMS, BUCKINGHAM PALACE & FEEL LIKE A QUEEN

London cannot be beaten when it comes to the variety of top-notch events that take place in the British capital. Almost two months full of world-class classical concerts at affordable prices is what BBC Proms promises between 19 July and 14 September. World-class orchestras, world-class singers and soloists are expected in the capital. The highlight among all these highlights will be the Last Night of the Proms in the park.

Have you ever been curious to see what the World’s most famous palace looks like on the inside? From 22 July to 29 September, you will have the opportunity to take a look inside Buckingham Palace. Once a year the Royal residence opens its doors to the public, giving the public the opportunity to take a look at the splendor and special exhibits among the Royal Collection’s masterpieces. Two of them are dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Queen Victoria and the 500th anniversary of Leonardo DaVinci’s death.

The world’s most famous LGBTI event, Christopher Street Day, will take place on 27 July in Berlin with up to 1 million participants on colorfully decorated cars that will parade through the city center. With an annually changing motto, the festival demands to put an end to discrimination and exclusion. The final rally will move from Kurfürstendamm to Brandenburg Gate and will be followed by parties all over town.

Metropolitan Hotel is just a stone’s throw away from the starting point of the CSD parade. 8. LONDON LOCO – CAN YOU STAND THE HEAT AT NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL & GIN ON SUNDAYS

Birds of paradise, exoticism and vibes that will remind you of the Copacabana. Notting Hill Carnival, the largest street festival in Europe, attracts over a million fans to London every year. This year, there will be a hyper-party with more than 50,000 dancers and actors from 24 to 26 August.

At the end of August, Berlin really has it all: three absolute top events will take place in the German capital. The Musikfest Berlin kicks off on 30 August and offers three weeks of cultural delights with top international orchestras that will include the London Symphony Orchestra with Principal Conductor Sir Simon Rattle and the BBC Symphony Orchestra with Principal Conductor Sakari Oramodabei.

Architecture fans will have a blast during the Bauhaus Week from 31 August to 8 September. Pressure exercised by the National-Socialists, the world-famous University of Design was closed in 1933. The one-week festival commemorates the University’s 100th anniversary with numerous events. On 31 August, the Long Night of the Museums will take place. Over 80 museums in Berlin will be open until 2 am. 800 events, shuttle busses, behind-the-scenes events and much more. Admission to all these offers is only 18 Euro.
